Below a selection of the nice things that our guests have said about us |
| July 2010 Dear Sandra, I have been meaning to write to let you know how delighted we were with the tours by Piera and Cristina. Both women had appealing personalities and really knew their history and art history. Their tours made our visits to the Vatican Museum, classical Rome and the Uffizi, especially our 17 yr. old granddaughter's experience, so much more meaningful, memorable and enjoyable. Please extend our thanks and appreciation to them both. Sincerely, Leilani Duke Pacific Palisades (CA) | |
| June 2010 Sandra - Thank you again for all of your planning and co-ordination. We had a fantastic time in both Rome and Pompeii, and all of the tour guides - Sylvia, Mauro and Francesca - were great. Each night after the tour we would spend hours over dinner discussing just how much we had seen and learned that day. We were constantly amazed by the wealth of knowledge that each tour guide had, and their ability to describe what the sights would have looked like in Ancient Rome was so impressive that we could actually visualize it ourselves. Ciao! Paul, Sandie, Karl and Helen Rochester (NY) | |
| April 2010 Dear Mrs Sandra, I just wanted to express my deep appreciation for the knowledge and the simpaty of dear signora Cristina, who, on the 13th april, took us through a wonderful trip in History and Art in the wonderful Galleria degli Uffizi together with mrs E. Hardt and her husband, from Germany. I have already recommended your site to some of our friends. Saluti Cristina la signora italiana sposata ad uno svedese. Mia Dal Canton v.Redlich (Saint Raphael, France) | |
| January 2010 Sandra, We’re home after a fabulous day around Rome with Mauro and we wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed his tour. We will definitely be recommending both your company and Mauro to friends and family. Please pass on our thanks once again to Mauro. Kindest Regards Anne & Declan Conroy (UK) | |
| August 2009 Hi Sandra, Just wanted to get back to you to let you know we were entirely pleased with all the Romaround guides you scheduled for us while we were in Rome, Pompeii, and Florence. I think your suggestion for half days in Rome was good...especially given the heat! By the way, please tell Sylvia that the McDonalds that is near the Spanish Plaza is the one John had seen on a TV travel show that featured it as the fanciest one in the world. Anyway, we have told many people about your services. Your guides are very knowledgeable and friendly, and it was much more fun to tour with individual guides than with a large group. When we return to Italy, some day, we will indeed be in touch with you again. We're attaching a few pictures that you're free to use as you'd like. Tell everyone "Hi" for us, and thanks again for helping to make our family trip so pleasant and memorable. Sincerely, The Hollands (Henry, Krystal, Henry II, and John) Kalamazoo - MI | |
| July 2009 Dear Sandra, I would just like to thank you for organizing us a wounderful set of guided tours around Roma. We had a fantastic time. As my Son says 'it was awsome!!'. We'd like to thank Mauro and Laura, both were full of great information, not just the standard tourist stuff, but also a deep knowledge of some of the stories behind the places and legends. And certainly our Son knew how to put them to the test. I don't think our Son will ever forget Mauro, who, by the end of the tours seemed to have made a life long impression on him, and shared the love of history. It truly made our visit to Rome, and extraordinary adventure, and an opportunity to get an insight into Roman history that we would have never have managed to achieve by ourselves or through the standard tours. Please pass our thanks on to Mauro and Laura. Mark, Emma and Etienne Zurich, Switzerland | | | |
| April 2009 Dear Sandra, I was very happy with the Roman Holiday. Ci siamo divertiti molto. Elise was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. è una persona deliziosa. But I would have loved to meet you too. However, I was also happy to note that you had checked up once with Elise that all was going well in our tour! I just returned to Manila on Sunday and will be happy to send some memorable photos. Please give my best regards to Elise. Ciao. Anand, Indian family from the Philippines | |
| November 2008 Hi Mauro and Sandra We wanted to say thank you for a very educational and memorable tour of Rome. It was our highlight of touring Italy. Mauro, your historical knowledge of Italy and your ability to verbally tell the story was amazing. We appreciate the time you spent with us. Too bad we didn’t win the lottery we could have spent a few more weeks in Rome. Best regards, Bob & Terri | | | October 2008 Hi Sandra, Just got back from Italy and wanted to drop you a quick note to tell what a wonderful time we had with Elise. She was very knowledgeable on all subjects and attentive to our needs. She made the Vatican and ancient Rome tours worth every penny! I’ll recommend Romaround tours – and Elise in particular - to everyone I can! Thanks for all your help! Bill Doran (WA) | |
| July 2008 Long overdue email...we booked a tour through you when we visited Rome in September 2007 - Mauro was AMAZING - no other word can describe him & the tour he gave us.
We started at San Clemente Church and ended at the Forum and I can't say I've had a better tour anywhere else I've ever visited. His personality and knowledge were a delight and with each long line and large group tour we passed we realized what a "deal" we had gotten.
Your service is one that I have spoken highly about to friends and the travel agent who booked you for us - WELL worth every penny you charge. Thank you again for providing such a great service and sharing your amazing city with us. If anyone ever asks for a reference please feel free to give out our email - they would be crazy not to book with you!
The day we took our tour it was the White Night celebration - Mauro convinced us to go out and experience the fun - here's a picture someone snapped of us that night - we would never have been so adventurous if he didn't tell us all about it!
Thanks again! Abbie & Chris Stanley |

| May 2008 Hello We would like to thank you for our very nice guided tour on May 2nd with Elise. We loved it! Here we have some pictures with Elise and us at Pantheon and the girls outside Colosseum. Thank you again, really worth the cost!! Anniken Flatlandsmo (Skien-Norway) | |
| April 2008 Dear Sandra,
We wanted to thank you for a first class private tour of Rome last month.
Virginia was absolutely wonderful! Not only was she extremely knowledgable about the Vatican and Ancient Rome, but she was humorous, engaging and extremely professional. She made everything come to 'life' for us and even our teenage daughters felt that Virginia was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. She was a wonderful ambassador to your beautiful city.
We have several friends in Michigan who are planning their first trip to Rome and I will insist that contact you for a guided tour.
Grazie! Sincerely, Dan, Claudia, Emily and Molly Malone Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
| Apr 13, 2007 Sandra,
I just wanted to drop a note to let you know how wonderful our time was with Mauro. He was not only knowledgable but was fabulous with our children and made us feel so engaged throughout the day.
I have already recommended him (via you, of course) to a friend planning to travel in the next year to Rome.
Here's the photo I promised of the kids with Mauro. Thank you so much for your choice and your help in setting this up. If you ever need anything on this side of the pond, let me know.
Thanks again, Warmest wishes, Howard and Donna Braunstein
| April 19, 2007 Sandra,
just a short note to tell you how meaningful it was for Karen and me to have the Romaround Guides with us for four days in your beautiful and historic city.
There is no way we could have seen and learned so much if we had not had the services of Elise, Barbara and Piera… not to mention how well you planned it all for us.
I will recommend Romaround to anyone wanting the best in personal tours of Rome. Thank you for making our stay here one of the best holidays we’ve ever had.
Regards, Tom Faulkner (Austin, TX)
| Sandra, we have returned to New Jersey after a great trip to Europe.
Both Bernardo and Fabio did a terrific job and made our trips to Florence and Rome very enjoyable. Bernardo and Fabio are both extremely knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable in visiting these wonderful locations. Also, the Mercedes was a nice touch for transportation in Rome.
We have and will continue to recommend Romaround to our friends.
Thank you, David Ironson (USA)
| March 30, 2006 Hi Sandra
Thank you so much for arranging our tours at such short notice.
Tiberio was an excellent guide! He made all the tours extremely interesting and he really proved the benefit of having a personal guide as we learnt so much more than would have been possible from a guide book. He also spoke exceptionally good English and was a charming companion for us all.
We will certainly recommend you to our friends and to our son's school.
Kind regards, Wendy Daisley (UK)
| May 10, 2006 Dear Sandra,
We had an amazing day touring the main attractions in Rome with Mauro. He was very personable and made Rome come alive. He knew the history of everything and answered all of our questions easily and thoroughly. We left Rome feeling that we had experienced the best of the best. Please thank Mauro for giving us amazing memories. We hope that if we come to Rome again that we can have him as our guide to show us other areas of the city. Furthermore, we will recommend your company to everyone we know, and we will tell them to request Mauro!

| April 25, 2006 My wife and I appreciate your providing a dedicated tour guide for a day in Rome earlier this month. The tour you suggested worked very well for us – we wouldn’t have seen most of these interesting sites without your recommendation. Our guide, Ms. Lollobrigida, was personable and very knowledgeable about the art and history. You are free to use me as a reference in the future.
Our guide was somewhat curious about igloos in Alaska, and we promised to send the attached photo of a proper igloo for her. The model in the photographs is the wife of our Barrow office manager, who built this igloo for fun in a couple of hours. Alaskans no longer live in igloos here, but the skill to construct one is considered necessary to survive a storm if caught out in the open in the arctic.

| April 7, 2006 Sandra,
I loved Rome. The old ruins (Forum and Palatine hill area) were my favorite. Letting me mind imagine what life was like then and what it looked like in its prime was amazing to me.
Venice..? I enjoyed it and was glad I went, but have no real reason to go back. Rome I would return too again, soon, but Venice..once was enough for me.
Lucia was a very nice person who we felt very comfortable with. Mauro would be hard to match anywhere in the world...he was great.
Thank you again. We have told all our friends that if you go to Italy, you should really use a personal guide and we can recommend a very good one ...Romaround!
Take care.

| February 27, 2006 Sandra:
I wanted to let you know that we have arrived back home safe and sound with many wonderful memories. Everything was perfect. Claudio and Mauro exceeded our expectations.
My brother Edward took many pictures with his digital camera, so I expect that we will be able to send some to you as well. As for now, I just wanted you to know that we had a fabulous time and the services that you provided were exceptional.
Thank you.

| February 13, 2006 Dear Sandra,
I wanted to thank Romaround for two great tours of Rome. We toured Vatican city and Ancient Rome. Our guide Piera was fun, engaging and full of passion. She made us feel like old friends and we took her advice for afternoon touring. And of course is was good advice. She was a perfect guide and I was happy with your service and I will recommend Romaround to my friends and clients. Please pass on Elizabeth's and my gratitude to Piera - and remind her she has more friends in London... Please feel free to view our website. If you come to London, I will be happy offer you my services as a private guide.

| 28 nov 2005 Dear Sandra
Thank you once again for the wonderful tour of Rome. Our visit to Italy was a big eye-opener. Not only was ancient Rome more interesting than any of us (except Alex) could have imagined, but Tuscany and Venice were, if possible, still more charming and romantic. What a lovely country.
Our tour with Piera was a high point. On the spur of the moment, we tried a (Vatican) bus tour the following day and couldn't believe the contrast. It was impersonal, inefficient and uninformative. In every way our time with Piera was vastly more fun and productive. We particularly loved the opportunity to talk with her about Italian society, customs... and politics. (Don't get me started about politics!)
Warmest best regards, Bob, Mary Ellen and Alex Stachnik (Robert Stachnik, Physicist, Newark, Delaware, USA)

| Fri, 14 Oct 2005 Dear Sandra,
Thank you so much for arranging Mauro on our visit to Rome. We had a wonderful day with him. He was so personable and full of great knowledge on all the history, art, and miscellaneous information. He was very informative and helpful! Tell him HI and thanks for a great day!
Attached are photos of us with Mauro. We are so glad that we got a guide for the day! It made that part of our trip just that much better.
Sorry we didn't get to meet you. I will recommend you both to all.

| Wed, 21 Sep 2005 Hello Sandra:
I've been meaning to thank you for the enjoyable tour
we experienced in June with you as our tour guide. You are a delightful person who really knows Rome and is excited to share it with travelers. Out of all the tours we took in Italy, we'll always have the fondest memories of yours!!
Please look us up if you visit your friend in Grosse Pointe anytime soon. We'd love to give you a tour of our 'neck of the woods'.

| Sun, 11 Sep 2005 Hi Sandra,
We just returned from our trip and I would like to let you know that we were extremely happy with the tours we took with Virginia. She is very knowledgable and loves to share! My husband still cites facts she told us.
Normally, he is half asleep on the tours we take and could not tell you one thing after the tour is over.
We look forward to returning to Rome and will definitely be in touch so you and your guides can show us even more!
I've attached a few pictures.

| Fri, 2 Sep 2005 Sandra:
I wanted to let you know what a wonderful day we have in Rome with Virginia as our guide. It was a long day, but it was very much worth it. Virginia recommended we reverse order, and see Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, etc. in the morning, and the Vatican in the afternoon. It was a great suggestion and helped us see a lot of sights before the crowds set it. Virginia was extremely knowledgable, patient, and had a great sense of humor. She handled our group of 12 very easily and kept everyone moving, despite having some folks who aren't quite as mobile. She was a pleasure to be with and had a conversation with us about what we were seeing versus just talking at us like some of the other guides we saw that day. It was great day and created a very memorable experience for all of us. I will definitely recommend Romaround and Virginia to others visiting Rome.

| Saturday, August the 6th 2005 Dear Sandra,
I hope you are well and busy guiding and explaining Italian history, culture and civilization. I myself and our group really enjoyed your guidance and company.
As I have promised you, here is your photo! I hope you like it.

| 16 Jul 2005 Dear Sandra,
We made it back safe and sound, so it's back to work for me!
I wanted you to know that we had a wonderful time exploring some of the more out of the way sites in Roma. We have nothing but good things to say about our experience with you and lots of pleasant memories.
Mari Carmen and the girls are already talking about visiting Sandra next year! Who am I to say no?
Here is a great picture, and you are in it! Arrivederci! Dr. Manuel Bustamante (dentist -CA)
| Wed, 18 May 2005 Sandra:
You and Mauro get a 10+ for everything! We learned sooo much and enjoyed everything we did. I think the itinerary was perfect. Ostia was so interesting and the perfect end to our too short time in Rome....We so enjoyed meeting you as well as Mauro - he does a wonderful job. I would definitely recommend you both to friends and I think the two of you together make quite a team. His knowledge and enthusiasm are equal to yours.
The rest of the trip was wonderful. Thanx for everything. I hope we can return to your wonderful country and city! Ciao! Barbara

| Mon, 27 Sep 2004 Hello Sandra,
Our trip to Italy was wonderful, and we especially enjoyed your tour.
On the last night we went to the restaurant you recommended--Trattoria San Teodoro. We had some trouble getting there because of the "white night" (we had no idea this would be going on, so it was quite a surprise!), but once we got there we had a great meal, the best one we had in Italy.
Take care, Chris and Margo Thomas-May (attorney and journalist) Oak Park - Illinois
| Monday, July 7th 2003 Sandra, we enjoyed so much walking and learning and eating. One of the major reasons that our trip was so wonderful is that we had you with us. We cannot imagine being in Italia senza di te! You are our friend, our teacher, our language instructor, and we love you. Thank you, Sandra, for being with us and for all of the planning and arranging that you did. We know that you worked very hard, and we enjoyed every minute of it. We look forward to November and plan to be in touch with you during the months before.

| Sun, 12 May 2003Cara Sandra, Marco and I have talked a lot about the trip, and we believe that it was a very important experience for our family. It is hard to describe this -- but it was an experience that brought us together, closely, as a family, and I think it will be an important event in all of our lives. We will all remember this trip with a special warmth. And all of us give you most of the credit for making it a wonderful and memorable adventure. Please get a good rest this week, and thank you again and again and again for everything -- we miss you and I hope to see you soon. Hugs and Kisses Lisa G.
