The Borghese Gallery, built in the 17th century by the Cardinal Scipio Borghese, is considered one of the most beautiful museums in Italy.

 

Among the treasures housed within are many astonishing sculptures by Bernini and other Baroque masters, as well as a rich collection of paintings by artists including Raphael, Tiziano, and Caravaggio. If you love arts, this gallery is not to be missed.



After the visit to the masterpieces of the Borghese Gallery, the guide will take you through the park of the Villa Borghese and the Pincio Hill, where a terrace offers a superb view over Rome.

From 2 October 2009 to 24 January 2010 the visit to the Borghese Gallery will include the exhibition "Caravaggio Bacon"


In addition to the paintings of Caravaggio that normally are part of the Borghese Gallery, more will come from other museums like the Metropolitan, Pitti Palace and others, for a total of 13 canvasses.

 

The Bacon selection is strong of 17 paintings coming from the Tate Gallery and the Arts Council Collection in London and from the Astrup Fearnley Museum in Oslo.
