We start the day with a visit to the Colosseum, one of the most famous monuments in the world and always beloved by children. We will make reservation so you will not waste time in line and outside the Colosseum you can also have a picture together with a real gladiator ! Then we go to Saint Peter's Square that offers a memorable trick of perspective, whereby if you stand in a certain point, many of the columns seem to disappear. From here we visit Saint Peter's Basilica, designed by Bernini, the genius of the Baroque.
A short walk will lead us to Castel Sant'Angelo, a medieval fortress built over the first century mausoleum of Hadrian. Here the popes used to take refuge to find protection against the assaults of the barbarian invasions of Rome. Here children love to be inside an ancient castle where the charm of the Middle Ages is preserved in a setting that is both beautiful and fascinating
Another short walk and we will reach the nearby Piazza Navona, with the beautiful baroque fountains by Bernini. Here you can have a brief break for lunch, and it is also good place where the kids can have a gelato (the italian ice cream) !
After lunch you will enter the Pantheon, the best conserved temple of the ancient Rome, dating back the second century, with its incredible huge dome with a hole in the middle.
Next you will visit Sant'Ignazio, a beautiful Baroque church, whose ceiling is an optical illusion created by a master of perspective, Andrea Pozzo. This will astonish the whole family.
The tour will end at the Trevi Fountain, where everybody following the tradition can enjoy throwing a coin in the water that will guarantee a future return to Rome. Close to the Trevi fountain there is a specific attraction for children: the Time Elevator that describes 3000 years of Roman history, from Romulus and Remus to the present, in an entertaining and educational format. The show lasts for 45 minutes. This is not included in the time of the tour, but is quite popular with younger children. If you are interested the guide will take you there and you can see it on your own. For this type of tour we select guides who love children and are particularly skilled in touring with families.
