Option One - 3 hrs
The Architecture and Wine tour starts at Piazza del Popolo, dominated by the big Egyptian obelisk; just around the corner you will have your first glass of selected wine in a very old and picturesque enoteca. Then we will reach Piazza della Rotonda and the Pantheon, considered to be the best conserved Roman temple. Within walking distance is Piazza Farnese, where you can admire the perfection of the Farnese Palace, designed by—among others—Michelangelo; at this point you will indulge in a glass of wine in the Piazza Farnese, or in the nearby Campo dei Fiori.
Moving on to Piazza Navona and its spectacular Bernini fountain, you will end the "passeggiata romana" in the last wine bar, which will allow you to taste another wine chosen among a huge selection: your guide will leave you here, the perfect place to relax and stop for a light lunch or dinner. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Option Two - 5 hrs As alternative if you wish to have a deeper knowledge of Italian wine with the guide of a professional sommelier, I would recommend this particular tour & taste ! You will begin with a 3hrs walking tour in the historical centre of Rome with your private guide. Here you will see some of the most beautiful spots of the Eternal City: Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, San Luigi dei Francesi with Caravaggio paintings, Navona Square. After the walking tour, the guide will take you to a true enoteca (wine bar). Here a professional yet friendly sommellier will make you taste different red and white wines among the best you can find in Italy, and will explain to you all the secrets of the Italian wines. Together with the drinks you will also have a selection of appetizers like the best Italian cheese and prosciutto. |
