Tour 1: Take a private tour to Siena and San Gimignano to discover two gems of Tuscany

The day will start with your private limo picking you up at the hotel to reach San Gimignano (about one hour drive). You will visit this lovely town world famous for its numerous towers, a measure of its power during the Medieval times when they were impressive in the same way of today New Yorks’ skyscrapers.

After visiting San Gimignano there will be time for lunch in a typical trattoria to enjoy some great local food and then your private limo will take you to Siena.

With its origins dating back to a thousand years BC when it was founded by the Etruscans, Siena is one of the most important centers of Tuscany for its art and culture. 

Your private guide (an art historian with official license from the municipal authority) will take you through the narrow streets of the historical center and make you discover the treasures of the city. The tour will include:

• Piazza del Campo, the square world famous for the horse race
• Mangia’s tower, completed in 1348, the second tallest in Italy  
• Gaia Fountain, with decorations by Jacopo Della Quercia
• Palazzo Pubblico, the Medieval town hall
• Duomo, with decorations by Nicola Pisano and Ghirlandaio
• Baptistry, with masterpieces from Donatello and Ghiberti
• Church of San Domenico, with the relics of Santa Caterina
• Palazzo Salmbeni, Medieval headquarter of Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the oldest bank in the world, still in business since 1472

After the visit to Siena, your private driver will drive you back to your hotel

Option 2: Siena private tour and visit to a Chianti winery with wine tasting

In this tour the visit of San Gimignano is replaced by a visit to a Chianti winery located in a beautiful castle on the Chianti hills. Here the owners will explain to you the history of the place and the art of wine making. You will see the wine yards, the production facilities and the old vaulted cellars for the aging of wine.

Then there will be a tasting of the different wines produced in the winery: depending on your preferences this can go from a light taste of two wines with a snack to a wider tasting of 6 wines accompanied by a selection of different kind of cheese, cured meats, bruschettas, extra virgin olive oil and other local products.  And of course it will be possible to buy wine and oil.

The tour will continue with the visit to Siena with the same itinerary as Option 1
